From January 5 to 7, Qingdao Film Academy Seminar on Learning and Promoting Educators’ Spirit and Ethics held in China Teachers Museum, Qufu Normal University. Su Wenjie, Standing Vice President of Qingdao Film Academy, Jin Mengyu, Vice President of Qingdao Film Academy, Li Zhaoxiang, Standing Committee Member and Vice President of Qufu Normal University, Sun Xiangguang, Standing Committee Member, Minister of Publicity Department and Curator of China Teachers Museum attended the opening ceremony. Sun Xiangguang presided over the ceremony.
Li Zhaoxiang and Su Wenjie delivered speeches respectively. In his speech, Li Zhaoxiang extended a warm welcome to the trainees and introduced in detail the exemplary teacher ethics research and training carried out by the school relying on China Teachers Museum, which was approved as the national teachers’ ethics education base. He hoped that the trainees could feel the great spirit of thegreatest teacher, Confucius, in the rich cultural atmosphere and that they could feel Confucius’ spirit of “I’ve tried to think all day long without eating anything or sleeping but it turned out to be of no use. It is better to learn” in the inquiry of theory, the collision of ideas, the study of practice and the enlightenment of methods.
Su Wenjie pointed out in his speech that it is significant to make use of the excellent traditional Chinese culture to cultivate teachers’ morality and clean the campus, guiding the majority of cadres and teachers to better shoulder the mission of educating people for the party and the country, and make contributions to the promotion of the modernization of education. Teachers should unify teaching and education with being, doing and learning, be a good guide for students, and make new and greater contributions to cultivate socialist builders and successors with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physicality, aesthetics and a comprehensive construction of a modern socialist country.
Sun Jian, monitor of the seminar and Director of the Personnel Department, made a statement, and the attendees read the educator’s motto together.
During the three-day training, theoretical learning was combined with practical teaching, and expert counseling was combined with self-study. In the expert lecture, Li Zhaoxiang, under the title of “understanding the wisdom of Confucius, learning to do education in the new era”, vividly explained the important statement of General Secretary Xi Jinping on building a high-quality and professional teaching force, interpreted in detail the significance of the spirit of Confucianism in laying the foundation for the spirit of teachers, and encouraged the participants to learn from the model teachers and carry forward the spirit of educators.
In the case teaching and research discussion, Director of Party Building Department of Shandong Provincial Party School, Taishan scholar, Professor Wu Rongsheng made a report on abiding by the code of professional conduct and building a strong defense of integrity and honesty. In the report, through telling the examples of lawlessness and misconduct, he warned teachers to regulate their own behaviors, construct “clean campus”, cultivate and create a high-quality and professional faculty to meet the needs of a strong country in education and to strengthen the ability of cadres and teachers at all levels.
Through on-site teaching, the teachers have learned about the history of teachers, admired the model teachers, and taken the teacher’s aspiration to a new level in China Teachers Museum; in the Confucius Temple and the Confucian Mansion, the teachers have asked about their original heart of being a teacher; in the Confucius Museum, the teachers have learned a lot about Confucius, and felt his great wisdom of teaching; in China Confucius Research Institute, the teachers have reviewed the great call of General Secretary Xi Jinping.
The closing ceremony was hosted by Liu Yong, Vice curator of Chinese Teachers Museum. Participants watched the training video and learned the essence of clean government culture. Representatives of the trainees shared their thoughts on the stage. Sun Xiangguang and Jin Mengyu issued certificates of completion for the outstanding students and engraved the memorial of the training.
The seminar was organized and hosted by China Teachers Museum, the only museum with the theme of teachers’ culture in China and a national teachers’ ethics education base. Forty leaders and teachers from Qingdao Film Academy participated in the program. Based on the educators’ spiritual cultivation path of “cognition, realization, internalization, outreach, and practice”, the seminar is committed to making primary and secondary school leaders achieve the training goal of governing schools well, running schools well, and educating students well.
